We have had a few complaints about the quality of our books purchased on Amazon and major bookstore chains. We do not wholesale to major bookstores. These books are purchased one at a time from Amazon who prints the book and ships the book to the bookstore the next day. We enjoy our relationships with Amazon and the bookstores, however, their is a quality difference.
Asylum and its authors are committed to bringing you the highest quality publications that we can and maintain a reasonable cover price. We digitally print (not “print on demand”) in short runs to allow changes if needed. We print books on a heavy 100# gloss enamel paper and a 12pt coated cover stock for maximum reproduction visual impact.
Our books are available on Amazon primarily for orders outside the USA to avoid expensive postage costs for our international orders or people who want a simple reading copy. Amazon “prints on demand” and prints the books on a light text paper and thinner cover stock. There is a difference in quality which we cannot control. Amazon is important to us and our customers who wish to obtain a reading copy with free shipping.
Also, if you order a book from a book retailer, most book retailers order a single copy from Amazon to fill the order. This is a low quality version of the book.
